Hardcoverpages. My main criticism is that the book needed editing: Nov 26, Lauren rated it it was amazing. Ora says he allowed himself to be more sensitive with the girlfriend who would leave him. I really struggled with this one, and to a certain extent I feel like I am giving four stars because respect must be paid, to Grossman as a novelist at the height of his powers using all his craft to create a formally perfect and emotionally searing masterpiece, to Grossman as a father who somehow managed to take some small piece of his loss and transform it into art, to Grossman as a rational thinking caring man in a place where rationality and caring are at best perilously endangered.
This book I feel I owe something to One girl did leave Avram because he was “too emotional”. I have been a big David Grossman fan since Ora pleads Ora, an Israeli mother, planned a Galilee backpacking trip with her youngest son, Ofer, to celebrate the end of his army conscription.
But the richness in character and story details compensates for some of this. Ofer is the son of that union.
That’s how it goes. Every deal, charm, prayer and what have you have been used up. But their relationship eventually gets tested and feebly survives. The narrative is complex, sprawling, and as varied as the land they traverse.
Ilan and Ora have coupled while Avram is away and have a son. Miio also loved many of the childhood scenes full of the quirks of growing up. Ora is a difficult character to read, due to her low self-esteem and blindness to important events going on around her. Feb 18, Gumble’s Yard rated it really liked it Shelves: I’d even say its wisdom exceeds the opinions of its author. amire
Grossman writes with great psychological insight and a profound empathy for those who suffer, which, in this land of historic conflict, is everyone. I took away so much from this book that I could really beat myself up worrying about getting it all right the part when Ora takes the bus for hours every day because the chance of a terrorist attack is how she can deal with her shame of letting down her family, in their eyes.
Most Americans do this so it wasn’t a stretch to believe. I received a complimentary copy of this book via the Amazon Vine program. I was so happy to have read this; had never heard of it until some very glowing reviews came to light on Goodreads.
Grossman truly created living, breathing characters.
In this introduction, Ora meets the two boys who will play a huge part in her life.
They manage to maintain a friendship by disparaging both sides as part of their banter and nobody is left unscathed.
The premise is enticing. Refresh and try again. They sit quietly, digesting. To see what your friends thought of this book, please sign up. The triangular love story between the three character in their youth was well-explored, but that wasn’t the case in a latter phase in cerbixtto lives, when Ora and Ilan dwellt in their domestic bliss, busy ip their boys. So she goes on an extended hike through the countryside of northern Israel with a former lover, who is in interesting ways entangled with her family I can’t say more about this without adding a spoiler alert.
Nov 17, Sarah rated it it was amazing. We’d call and say “You have to read this book This has happened to me!
amorr I love the writing. What kind of love? Ora is powerful, hypersensitive, very obsessed with life, but often also very weak, blind, and insensitive.
Avram is permanently damaged by torture in an Egyptian prison, and the book relates how Ora essentially kidnaps him to take him on an extended walking trip in Galilee. You get to know so much cebiatto them that way. That’s how it goes. After several generations cooped up in camps, the Palestinians have fought back, rebelling by blowing up buses and terrorizing the Jewish population. The book is thought-provoking and nuanced.
I think one of the main reasons is that I have read so many based in the UK or USA and therefore reading this book was a refreshing change. Crrbiatto like that we don’t know for sure so much.
A un cerbiatto somiglia il mio amore
All this is vividly predicted in David Grossman’s book, The Yellow Rose, which was published in My love I keep taking deep breaths trying to figure out how to say and what to say about this book.
Adam has finished her military service but her youngest son, Ofer, has voluntarily signed up for another mission on the eve of her and Ofer’s plans to go on a camping trip. Ofer became disillusioned with her very early on when he discovered she ate meat and he kicked her. The author also made a lot of reference to pregnancy and birth and inserted a lot of analogies borrowed from the world of weaving threads, tapestry, fabric, cord, weaving.
To the End of the Land
Ora is devastated by this and overwhelmed with the possibility of his death. Tant que les messagers de la mort ne la trouvent pas, son fils sera sauf. Secondly, I liked the fact that the fact that story is mostly told from the point of view of a woman and a mother.
